The Process Of Manufacturing Plastic Bottles
1.Injection Molding (for PET bottles):
- Preform Injection Molding: For PET bottles, the first stage involves injection molding to produce preforms. A preform is a tube-shaped piece of plastic with a threaded neck where the bottle cap will be attached.
- Heating: The preform is heated in a conditioning tunnel to make it pliable for the next step.
- Stretch Blow Molding: The heated preform is transferred to a blow mold where it is stretched and blown using high-pressure air to take the shape of the mold cavity.
- Cooling: Once formed, the bottle is cooled to set its shape.
2.Extrusion Blow Molding (for HDPE bottles):
- Extrusion: In this method, plastic pellets are melted and extruded into a hollow tube (parison) of molten plastic.
- Mold Closing: The parison is placed into a mold cavity and clamped shut.
- Blow Molding: Compressed air is injected into the parison, causing it to inflate and take the shape of the mold cavity.
- Cooling: The bottle is cooled and solidified inside the mold.
3.Trimming and Deflashing:
After molding, excess plastic (flash) is trimmed off from the bottle.
Any additional finishing touches, such as thread trimming or surface smoothing, may also be done at this stage.
4.Quality Control:
Throughout the manufacturing process, quality control checks ensure that bottles meet specified dimensions, thickness, weight, and other quality criteria.
Testing may include leak tests, visual inspections, and dimensional checks.
5.Packaging:
Finished bottles are packed into boxes or containers for shipping and distribution.
